Laura Welch

The Windy Path of a Covenant Mother

A Woman’s Call to Prepare the World for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

Portrait of Laura Welch

Laura Welch is a comedian, speaker, founder, and mother. She loves using her gifts for storytelling and comedy to teach the gospel in ways that help listeners think differently about gospel principles and apply them directly to their lives.

Laura’s background includes Seminary and Institute, EFY and FSY, and sketch comedy. She was a member of Divine Comedy, BYU’s sketch-comedy troupe. After graduating from the Church Educational System, she taught both Seminary and Institute. For the past 20 years, she has worked with BYU as a speaker for Especially for Youth and now FSY. She travels throughout the country speaking to Latter-day Saint teenagers, young single adults, and women at conferences and firesides.

Laura also speaks to mothers in secular settings. She founded an organization for families at Harvard Business School that supports students and their families and created a speaking series for parents. She is frequently invited back to Harvard to speak to student mothers. This experience led her to focus more deeply on mothers and women and to develop a workshop addressing the complexities of a woman’s path. She is also part of the Faith Creators Alliance, helping to create faith-based content online.

But Laura’s favorite role is being the ringleader and mother of the circus known as the Welch family. She loves teaching and nurturing her five children: Rowan, Porter, Lillian, Quinn, and Colin. In her spare time, she enjoys playing pranks with her husband and having dance parties with her family.
