President and Sister Dunn

Michael A. Dunn is a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Raised by a faithful mother after his parents divorced, he joined the Church as a high school senior after being welcomed by Latter-day Saint friends and inspired by missionary teachings. He later served in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission, married Linda Virginia Poulson in the Salt Lake Temple on May 1, 1980, and together they raised three children while building a family life centered on faith in Jesus Christ, endurance, and service.

Elder Dunn’s professional career has spanned journalism, advertising, television, and media leadership, including roles with Fotheringham and Associates, Bonneville Communications, Dunn Communications Inc., KUED, BYUtv, and BYUradio. His Church service has included assignments as bishop, stake president, mission president of the South Africa Johannesburg Mission from 2014 to 2017, Area Seventy, and General Authority Seventy.

Known for his love of endurance sports (including 50 marathons combined with his wife, ultra marathons and Ironman), his perspective is that difficult challenges can strengthen faith. Elder Dunn often reflects on the Lord’s guidance in his life and his desire to witness of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel.

Linda Dunn’s career has been spent primarily in education. At the University of Utah she led two departments, serving as Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Executive Director of the Lowell S. Bennion Community Service Center, a nationally renowned service learning program. She also worked at Brigham Young University where she was an adjunct professor and internship coordinator in the Department of Exercise Sciences. Prior to those roles she was the Executive Director of Utah Campus Compact, which champions service learning at Utah’s universities and colleges.

Linda’s education includes a B.S. in Education and a Masters of Educational Administration from the University of Utah.

Her church experience includes Stake Young Women’s President and gospel doctrine instructor. She and her husband Michael presided over the South Africa Johannesburg Mission from 2014 to 2017.

Linda and Michael have three children and 12 grandchildren. She enjoys skiing, running, and biking in the beautiful Wasatch mountains.
